Where to from here???

Changes to Thai Immigration Laws and Regulations are making it increasingly more difficult to financially meet the requirements to remain in LoS long term. I am one of those increasingly concerned by the changes..
If you cannot remain in Thailand and dont want to return to your country of origin what are the alternatives?
Due to my concern I recently had a trip to Cambodia (Sihanoukville) To check out the "lay of the land".Immigration at the Had Lek crossing was a snack,They gave me a choice of tourist visa @1200 bt (sign says $20) or a business visa (1 yr.) for $285 US.
With a Business visa it appears that you do not have 90 day check-ins and you are allowed to buy and openly operate a business.
To renew your visa you simply go to the local Supermarketand leave your application, passport and fee and pick it up in 72 hrs.
Because of low sales taxes applied, many commodities are 50% lower than Thailand.Rents are low ,food is cheap and a great many locals have a grip on the English language,so if the proverbial "Poo Hits The Fan here" Cambodia seems initially to be one alternatives.
What are your alternatives and why?

RE: Where to from here???

I'm not familiar with Cambodia's regulations but from people I have talked to that have spend time there it does not appear to be the same level as Thailand. Medical is often poor outside major centers, crime is very rampant (it was described as like the wild west) and foreigners don't have a lot of rights.

Malaysia has a good program called "My Second Home", although Malaysia would also be my second choice.

My Second Home

It's worth looking at especially for those with some capital and under 50.

It would be very nice if Thailand adopted a similar program from it's neighbor.

RE: Where to from here???

I should have referred 'manfrom oz' to this saga about 4 expats in the Cambodian injustice(?) system & the CWCC -( Cambodian Women's Crisis Center ) an NGO funded by the US and Australian Govt.

Grahame Cleghorn's 7th appeal postponed!

BTW, Direct refs to Inquisition21.com in Google have been deleted, ever since they alleged that Google were working hand in hand with the CIA.
No surprises there. Icon_eek

Fortunately, there are many indirect links to Inquisition21.com
