When will Thais do Something for Themselves?

It's probably the single most important time period in the last 20 years of Thai history with a new constitution in the making and being thwarted at every turn by the illegal junta in power and the Thai people really could care less.

Tell us about people you know and what they are doing to secure the future of Thailand and the rights of her people.

Thai people do care, at least the ones I know. I don't think it would be prudent for us to talk about individuals, their plans or any actions they may be taking to secure the Country's future, on an open forum. even if any of us know about such things.

Unless you want to talk about protest rallies, where you are talking about an individual tailing part in a group activity.

Maybe the majorities silence is because the people in charge now have guns and tanks and lots of soldiers? Martial law and that stuff.

Well, that's the point, isn't it?  Why wouldn't we discuss someone's ideas on an open forum?  That's what democracy is all about.  Doesn't Thailand promote democratic ideals like the right to assembly and the right to free speech?  I don't want to talk about protest rallies because protest rallies only show support for popular causes.  I'm talking about true discussion about the real issues surrounding their plight and the tasks ahead for restoring their constitution.  What are the things that people are talking about?  do they want to vote for their PM or do they want him/her to be chosen by the military, the Sangha Council.  Do they want press freedom and are they writing challenging articles?  You know that the 4 people they had on to help develop the press freedom category of the new constitution have walked out in protest, right?  What are folks talking about?  I don't hear anything from the people around me.

Post Edited. No discussion about the Thai Royal Family is permitted. Please refer to the forum rules for more details. Your understanding in regards to this matter is appreciated
