Vitamin C - Benefits to Aging Baby Boomers

Vitamin C is pretty much the do-it-all supplement pertaining to baby boomers. I'd possibly call it the guard dog of vitamins for individuals. It can help watch over our bodies, works with different agents to prevent and/or safeguard from certain kinds of medical conditions such as Parkinson's Disease and even can be useful for the formation of collagen.

Vitamin C and/or ascorbic acid, as it is referred to, is a water-soluble vitamin. It is not produced within the human body and must be obtained through the food we consume or perhaps from health supplements. It is probably the best protective type of vitamin that we as baby boomers might take.

One of the very first recognized values from the vitamin was when "limeys" or British mariners started making use of limes to help resupply their bodies with vitamin C. They learned to eat the fruit soon after coming down with a disease called scurvy. Without the vitamin, the sailors would come to be easily fatigued and start to have joint pain which was accompanied by inflammation. They also began to lose their teeth and had hair loss, even bruising and also bleeding. Consuming the vitamin rich fruit slowed and reversed the symptoms.
