DUSSELDORF, Germany - Germany used home advantage to take a 2-1 lead in their Davis Cup play-off match with Thailand here on Saturday after winning the day's doubles match.

The German doubles pair of Alexander Waske and Michael Kohlmann proved far too strong for the Thai twins Sonchat und Sanchai Ratiwatana, winning 6-1, 6-2, 6-0.

The play-off, for the right to play in the top tier of world tennis, is decided on Sunday with two singles matches.
