Here's an interesting article on how some folks are up in arms over Thailand's plan to manufacturer their own Generic drugs thereby making health care more affordable for more people.
IMO it's a good decision.

It's one rip off that I condone.

Manufacturing life-saving generic drugs without licences can certainly be condoned although not fully justified. Having such a bad reputation with copying whatever is in reach and thus competing with (more or less) honest people does not make it easy to discuss and strive for understanding opponents that have been cheated time and time again.
