Giant-killing Polish schoolgirl Urszula Radwanska is shaping as one to watch at the Australian Open after claiming her second major scalp at the Hobart International.
Radwanska, 18, is ranked 126 in the world and yesterday she upset the Hobart tournament's sixth seed, Canadian Aleksandra Wozniak, 3-6, 7-6 (7-3), 7-5.

The world No34, Wozniak last year beat top players Marion Bartoli of France and Italy's Francesca Schiavone.

Radwanska upset world No30 Schiavone in qualifying for her first-round main draw match against Wozniak.

Schiavone would have been the Hobart tournament's fourth or fifth seed had an administration error not forced the Italian tennis star into the qualifying rounds.

The dark horse Radwanska said beating Wozniak ''was incredibly tough match''.

''I just played my game, I think she became a little bit nervous [in the second set].''

Radwanska was perhaps previously better known as the sibling of her better performing older sister, world No10 Agnieszka Radwanska.

Australian wildcard entrants Jessica Moore and Olivia Rogowska were bundled out of the opening round yesterday.

Moore who reached the second round at the Australian Open and the US Open in 2008 was no match for Olga Govortsova, with the Belarussian winning 6-0, 6-3.

It was a similar tale for Rogowska who bowed out 6-3, 6-1 to Russian Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova.

The tournament's top seed, Italy's Flavia Pennetta beat Israel's Shahar Peer 6-2, 7-6 (7-5).

Other winners yesterday were Chinese fourth seed Jie Zheng, Argentine Gisela Dulko, Italy's Mara Santangelo, Spaniard Carla Suarez-Navarro, Briton Anne Keothavong and Frenchwoman Virginie Razzano. AAP
