Asparagus is a Perennial. Plant in early spring, but don`t harvest the first year to allow the plant to become established. Plant about 14" apart. Apply a heavy mulch in winter to help prevent the roots from heaving out of the ground.

The only things I know about asparagus is that it makes nice soup and makes your pee bright yellow :oops:

I seen asparagus grown in "basements" to avoid the greening. White asparagus fetches almost twice as much on the market then regular - at least around here.

A good soup made from white asparagus is awesome. Lightly blanch them, then grill them with some spicy seasoning is also a perfect side dish for a steak!

I cannot stand the taste of Asparagus. Instantly awakens the gag reflex.
