Sweden's assistant coach Roland Andersson approached by Sven-Goran Eriksson

STOCKHOLM (Reuters) - Sweden's assistant coach Roland Andersson has been approached by Sven-Goran Eriksson for a possible coaching job at Manchester City under the fellow Swede.

"We have been in touch over the last few days and Sven-Goran has said that he is considering an offer to join Manchester City as a manager," Andersson said in a statement on the Swedish FA's Web site (http://www.svenskfotboll.se).

"It is correct that we have discussed a possible job for me in the club...(But) As far as I know, Sven-Goran has not signed a deal with Manchester City, and therefore there is no specific offer for me to take a stand on."

Eriksson, 59, who resigned as England coach after his team lost to Portugal in the World Cup quarter-finals last year, could be appointed City manager this week following a takeover bid by the ousted Thailand Premier Thaksin Shinawatra.

Andersson has been Sweden's assistant coach since 2004. "There is no dilemma at the moment. There is nothing concrete," the 57-year-old told the daily Expressen, adding that it would be impossible for him to divide his coaching duties between Sweden and Manchester City.
