Some vegetable ideas for a container garden

Radishes, green beans, tomatoes, and peppers are big savers!

You'll want fast producing vegetables that won't take up a lot of space in your vegetable container garden.

* Radishes are small fast producers that can be reseeded many times during a season.
* Green beans are delightful in bloom and prolific bearers after bloom! Grow pole beans for vertical container garden impact or get easy pickings with bush beans.
* All small varieties of tomatoes do well in containers with Roma and cherry tomatoes being exceptional standouts. Plant them in a stationary pot, grow them up a trellis, or put them in a hanging planter. Tomatoes are as versatile in their growing habits as they are on your stove top!
* Green peppers are good neighbors for tomato plants. Grow one in front of a tomato trellis for a charming contrast in color and size. Of course, red peppers (especially the small ones) add as much spice to a vegetable container garden as they do to your menus!

Give Your Vegetable Container Garden Room to Grow and Watch Your Savings Mushroom!

Don't cramp the style of your vegetable container garden. How well your vegetables produce depends on the room you give them to grow. In additon, be sure that you plant mixed vegetables with compatible and friendly neighbors.

Each variety should be similar in light, water, and nutrient needs as well as temperament. For instance, if you're tempted to add an herb like mint to your vegetable container garden, don't! Mint is a very competitive and invasive plant that will stage a take over and deplete your vegetable savings in no time!

A container vegetable garden will thrive under the right conditions and in due time you'll have a great return on a small investment. With a little planning, you can bank on the savings you get from a vegetable container garden.
