Mother-in-law`s Tongue, (Snake Plant)

The Mother-in law`s tongue, or Snake plant, originated in Zaire, Africa. It`s ideal for placing in parts of the home where there isn`t a lot of light.

These plants grow in almost any environment. The species develops clumps of erect, strap-shaped leaves, 18–30 inches tall, that are dark green with bands of lighter green or yellow. Another variety develops four inch tall leaves that form a rosette.

Plant in regular potting mix and allow the soil to dry completely between waterings. Grow in any light intensity from dim interior to full sun. Keep moderate to warm temperatures and low humidity.
Special Requirements

In winter, water just enough to keep the foliage from shriveling. Over-watering is the main reason for failure.

That appeals to me. I have a number of places in the house where I can place a plant, the trouble is though that most of the suitable spots aren`t in the light as such.
