Int'l media interested in Thailand's grand celebrations of HM the King's Diamond Jubilee

BANGKOK, June 9 (TNA) - Members of the world media are interested in and impressed with Thailand's grand celebrations, collaboratively nationwide, of the auspicious occasion of the 60th anniversary of His Majesty the King's accession to the throne, Thai Deputy Prime Minister Surakiart Sathirathai said here on Thursday.

About 2,000 journalists from 25 countries across the world had, so far, registered to cover the kingdom's Royal and state ceremonies marking the Diamond Jubilee this year, Mr. Surakiart told TNA after members of the world media made a courtesy on him at Government House.

"Most of the journalists coming to cover the events told me they work for world major press and magazines, like those in the US, France and the United Arab Emirates," said the deputy prime minister.

"I briefed them on background of the grand celebrations which are collaboratively organized by all sectors in the nation to express our greatest gratitude to His Majesty the King," he noted, "I told them we, all Thais, are warm to be His Majesty's subjects. Everybody is willing to wear yellow shirts to show their loyalty and gratitude to the beloved and revered monarch."

"The world media representatives are very interested in and impressed with the collaborative celebrations for His Majesty, saying they have never experienced such the love and loyalty people heartedly have to their monarch before, reflecting that the Thai monarch is the focus of national stability," the deputy premier said.

Visiting members of the world media are scheduled to cover Royal and state events at Ananda Samakom Throne Hall on June 9, as well as those on June 12-13.

They will also visit Royal-initiated projects in the upcountry, including those in Thailand's northern resort province of Chiang Mai, according to Dr. Surakiart.
