Hospital information?

Many of us either young or old will at times face some sort of medical problem, which will require going or being admitted into a hospital. There are a number of sites which give Visa information, but I yet to find a site with a sub-forum on hospitals in various areas of Thailand.I feel that this information is very important not only to myself, but for all the members of my family,as well as all the members of the forum, and visitors.
I know that I am a new member, and I hope that I am not out of place in making this suggestion. But I feel that if this could be accomplished,it would be a huge contribution to all concerned, including to the forum itself.Information on hospitals other than commercial advertisement seems hard to find. With added input from people who have been there, gotten treatment, used insurance or cash, type of care, type of procedures, the outcomes, patient satisfaction,etc..
This could be crucial information for any of us.How could this be done?
Maybe this is only important to me.

RE: Hospital information ?

Another excellent post from Mellow.

I do not like the prices of the private Hospitals here in Pattaya so I go to The Queen Sirijit Hospital in Sattahip.
You have to wait for a while to see the Doctors but they are actually FREE! You only pay for treatment and tests.
I had a Prostate Biopsy done there. Stayed two nights and was charged 10000bht. In the Bangkok Pattaya Hospital it would have been several times that amount. Admittedly it is a fantastically well equipped place, but I can't afford it. They are rip off artists when you are a Farang. A pal was there recently for a week for treatment for a Lung problem. He was a miner. The cost was 70000bht! And he said they were hopeless.......
The room and the food in Sirjit were not much to write home about but the treatment was very good. I recommend it.
Sadly some of their best Quacks are being lured away by the higher
salaries of the private sector.....
PM me for more info anytime. Good health.

RE: Hospital information ?

You just gotta look in the right places. But when you need a doc you usually don't feel like starting that search. Korat-Info has a list with phone numbers and Google Earth placemarks showing you where they are on an aerial photograph of Korat

http://www.korat-info.com/forum/viewtopi...f=16&t=241 and there

http://www.korat-info.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=30 plus more info about costs, experiences etc.

Should maybe start a hospital-info subforum like that here at TT. Would take a long time to develop but that is no argument for not starting. Thanks for the idea. When Phil comes back from treatment in Australia he'll certainly have an open ear for that.

But it is wrong to think that the private hospitals could lure the doctors away from the public hospitals; they have to do duty on both. Something I like about Thailand. No privileges here!

RE: Hospital information ?

Thanks for the positive feedback.

KoratCat,very good links.I looked at them and bookmarked them for further browsing later. But that is exactly what I was talking about.Hospitals, listed under specific regions in Thailand, such as the list in your link for hospitals in Korat. Then members such as Kautolo who have specific experiences at a certain facility could input their experience.Letting all other member know what to expect ,look out for,and the quality of service which can be expected.Thank you Kautolo for your post.
There will of course be some negative experiences almost anywhere.Maybe there could be a rating system set up like in a poll.I don't know, if a lot of real negative posts about a facility could cause a legal slander case. The poll could help solve this problem, and keep track of the rating of a facility,in case a lot of posts get heavily edited.
In my case,I live in the countryside between Buriram and Surin.I have gotten some good reports about ST.Mary's in Korat. This facility has actually counseled against a surgery for a family member's wife. This was after a very big hospital in Pattaya wanted to do it.It seemed to me that they were concerned about the patients health, instead of just cutting away to make some money. This of course is only based upon one experience by one person, and although it's positive,it would be nice to have more.
Should something happen to a family member or myself,it would be nice to know which way to point the car in such an emergency.
