You should have asked the other way round: "Any of the residents here never experienced a flood etc. in Thailand?"

The first time half a meter water in my living room was still impressing. But I got used to it and made sure it couldn't happen again by living as "the fool on the hill" in my next house. Icon_razz

Maybe T1 can post the pics from his "life in the pool" last year?

RE: Have you ever experienced...?

And, oh well, it wasn't a natural disaster at all, but fully man made, and I didn't see it tumbling down, but I passed the pile of rubbel of the Royal Plaza Hotel in Korat 15 years ago, under which so many people were buried alive, many times before they cleared it all away.Doesn't give me the best memories of my visits in that building before, in meeting rooms or the bar "Chaophraya" under it, imagining it could have happened then.

So I build my new house not only on top of a lot of filled up soil to avoid flooding but especially I build it very solid with a lot of iron and cement to resist an earthquake or one of the heavy storms.

Living on the west coast of Canada Earthquakes are a part of life. You don't even get up off the couch for anything under a 5.5.

I live 1/2 way between Powell River and Vancouver just about where the 3 purple dots are. This is the seismic activity in the last 30 days.

It's a very similar situation that happened in Indonesia that caused the Tsunami in Thailand. Everyone knows it's only a matter of time until this area has a major quake and we have a complete field hospital c/w operating rooms in shipping containers at our local airport as we would be cut off from the mainland.
