Germany wins Eurovision 2010

Britain comes last

GERMANY won this year's Eurovision Song Contest in Oslo on Saturday with the punchy pop ballad "Satellite" sung by Lena, the second German to win the extravagant talent contest in its 55-year history.

"I'm so happy and so thankful and so grateful and I never thought that we could do this," the 19-year-old, who just finished her final exams, said.

But while one teenager was celebrating, British hopes were dashed when the nation's 19-year-old entrant Josh Dubovie came last in the competition.

Dubovie won only 10 points for his performance of That Sounds Good To Me, masterminded by hit-maker Pete Waterman with Mike Stock and Steve Crosby.

BBC host Graham Norton said after the results were announced: "Poor old Josh. He gave a very credible performance tonight and he should be proud of himself but it wasn't to be."

Germany's Lena took the top spot with 264 points and, with her dark red lips trembling with emotion, the singer told the show's hosts she did not feel strong enough to lift her trophy.

RE: Germany wins Eurovision 2010

The Eurovision is a joke, I don't know why the UK bothers entering it. The Eastern European nations always vote for one another, however awful the songs are.

I don't know how good or bad the song from the UK was, I don't think I've ever heard it. Last night I didn't watch the contest until the final 20 minutes when the votes were being announced, but if the German winner was the best of the lot I don't think I missed much.
