Premier League - Chelsea-United falls victim to snow

The weekend's big match between Premier League leaders Manchester United and champions Chelsea at Stamford Bridge has been called off due to adverse weather conditions.

Sunday's glamour tie in West London was the latest match to fall victim to the unprecedented snow and freezing conditions that has decimated the British sporting calendar.

Only two Premier League matches will take place on Saturday, Sunderland's early kick-off at home to Bolton and managerless Blackburn's game with bottom club West Ham.

Arsenal's game at home to Stoke, Wigan's clash with Aston Villa and Newcastle's trip to Birmingham are all off.

Chelsea, runaway leaders earlier in the season, are in the midst of their worst run of form since Roman Abramovich took over the club in 2003, lying fourth and without a win in five Premier League matches.

They had been hoping to go level on points with United while arresting a worrying slide that started when assistant manager Ray Wilkins was sacked on November 11.

A date is yet to be set for the rescheduled match.
