Jaruk Wilaikaew, who heads the Fine Arts Office, Wednesday said the finds could be 2,500 to 3,000 years old.

"We have asked permission from the farmer to keep these artefacts for examination," he said.

The find includes an orange vase with a Naga painting on its neck, a pot, three shells and 26 white small pieces of what appear to be human bones.

"The vase is very similar to earthenware of the Thung Kula Ronghai civilisation except that it is smaller in size. This is also the first ancient vase with four lump-like feet," he said.

Farmer Somkit Duangdee willingly handed over the finds to the fine-arts officials and led them to where he made his discovery.
