AFP photographer Eric Feferberg won the 12th edition of the Prix Bendrihem for the best shot of a European political figure. The photograph, taken in October 2007 in Saint-Denis, France, shows French President Nicolas Sarkozy listening to a CGT trade union representative while on a visit to a maintenance site of the national rail operator, SNCF.

The 7,000-euro prize was presented in Perpignan by Agence France-Presse chief executive Pierre Louette. This year, for the first time, the prize was awarded during the professional week of Visa pour l'Image, the international photojournalism festival celebrating its 20th anniversary this year.
