RE: Aussie Dollar hits parity with the greenback

ENJOYING online shopping and travel perks of the marching Aussie dollar? Spare a thought for those whose jobs it's costing.

Massive job losses are likely in the next few months with the Australian dollar expected to push back above $US1.10 before Christmas, economists say.

From the story you quoted....

Quote:Australians will be laid off at record rates, economists say, as the gap between the fast and slow lanes of the two-speed economy widens with the pain in the manufacturing, tourism, retail and construction sectors expected to worsen.

It's really now up to Aussies to do the right thing here now....
Aussies need to avoid the buying of imports where an Aussie product is availiable...
For example only a fool would buy New-Zealand apples when we got our own....
Manufacturing we dug our own graves...Too many Aussies run out and buy the import rather then support our own...
Retail...Same story.....too many run out and buy online rather then support our own stores...
Personally though I don't see it as my retail sales are up this year....
Construction is another story....There is no shortage going on but we do have a shortage of skilled labor....

That's great for the U.S. About time the U.S. dollar starts to actually be worth something.
