LITTLE-known Australian Kane Webber survived brutal conditions to charge to victory at the $US300,000 ($A393,313) Macau Open today.

In just his second start on the Asian Tour, Webber, who started the final round three shots behind fellow Australian Brad Kennedy, was almost flawless, making just two bogeys in torrential rain and strong winds at Macau Country Club.

He carded one-under par 70 to finish at nine-under 275, three strokes ahead of compatriot Scott Barr, while Kennedy faded to tie for third, another stroke back, with five Australians finishing in the top six.

It is the first professional victory for 25-year-old Webber, who turned pro only two years ago. He is from Lismore, NSW, but now lives in the United States after attending the University of Colorado.

Webber said it was the round of his life.

"I got off to the good start I was looking for, birdies on (holes) two and three, and made a couple of great pars as well, which you had to do in that weather out there.

"It was one of the toughest rounds I've played, weather-wise.

"In that weather, not until that last putt dropped (was I confident of winning). With that wind, a little mistake and you could make a big number out there, so you just had to be careful.

"I came here thinking I could win, played really good at the start of the week and kept it going."
