Hi and I've been away a loooong time since I signed up and am glad to receive the email from Admin... a perfect reminder with the Olympics in Beijing which I recently went there and was close to the Bird's Nest but 92 days ago, it was then closed to the public.

I just want to wish all of you a BIG Hello and hope all are in good spirits and in best of health as well... I am doing well myself esp. after that long stroll by The Great Wall.[Image: Jollyhappy.gif]

Let me add some additional info abt myself. I'm a once "young" Retiree at 33 in 1986 and has so remained till today. I'm also doing Consulting occasionally but have reduced that task as it is affecting my leisured lifestyle and I want to increase that path as planned for thge next 50 years if I may....

However, I do assist my younger but senior partners with the Realty side of business as an Overseas (European & Int'l) Marketing Exec dealing with all foreign Investors looking to expand and exploit their excess $$$ on Thai properties.

Being on the Forum is a fun and learning experience esp. with the typing bit and I'm gradually overcoming this arduous hurdle...2-finger typing...hahaaa!

I'm a Guinness guy and if u're a buddy at beers, we can make it to the nearest pub whenever u're ready.

Cheers and to good health to all of you.... Sawadee to you as we also say, Gezondheid here in Holland... [Image: Cheers.gif]

Gdday CB... that was qik???Icon_mrgreen

Firstly, a BIG TQ for the upgrade... looks great and nothing like looking GOLD when it sparkles....!!!Icon_wink

My trip to China in April and May was a VERY long story, interesting as it was, it'll be too long to narrate here... despite my having more than 2800 pics to support it anyway, it was a stroll that even our "private" Tour Guide was not prepared to go the full length (several hundred kms!!!) which then became obvious to us too... LoL which we were glad that the decision was a wise one.

Its not so much a matter of walking "how far" along the Mutianyu Great Walls, it was more a symbolic accomplishment to be there in Beijing and to visit the great wonder of the globe and at such, was a puffing attempt to reach up there... after being hauled up by the cable car (4-pax max).

In short, we were there at the invitation of our host and partly, were provided with VIP status and privilege chauffeur and limo service with again, a separate private specialist Tour Guide on all the days we were in Beijing itself which include our stay at The Beijing Sheraton as well.
We had no chance to taste the public transport or local cabbies nor back pack or hitch any rides etc.... even our chauffeur was a State security chap who made sure, we get through the horrendous traffic with his "muscles" and status as he ferry us smoothly through the traffic within and outside Beijing proper.
Wherever we are or went, we were never left alone to feel uncertain... no worry to find a place to park nor even have to drive... it was a perfect privilege trip that was offered by Daimler in China. Icon_cool

Here's a snap somewhere along one long stretch... and whatever you can see, we somehow covered the length and WALKED back again the same route.

One of the 5 Great Walls and we chose the Mutianyu stretch some 40kms outside Beijing.

There is a mule which belongs to a "refreshment hawker" that sells bottled water along this section of the Wall.
