A world wide TV audience of over 4 billion people, 90,000 spectators, 15,000 performers, 10,000 Olympic athletes and held in the most populous nation of 1.2 billion people. What did you think of the Beijing Opening Ceremony?

The 2,008 Military Drummers at the start and the lighting of the flame with the athlete running through the air in front of the scroll on the stadium fascia were spectacular. Well Done China! Awesome! Cool Although the Aussie track suits were like something out of Kath and Kim Icon_eek
I loved the drums at the start, but we were all quite inebriated by the time Australia came out (Geelong's thrashing of whoever it was they were playing was cause for celebration. Especially since we didn't cop any injuries. Would have been nice if the other mob had actually turned up to the game instead of sending the under-15's, but still any cause for a celebration is a good one, right?)

And you're absolutely right - they looked crap! The only green and gold was the bloody boxing kangaroos!

I'll post in the other thread more about my opinion of that..
I`ve gone for excellent, despite some rather sneaky tricks the Chinese got up to in its presenting of it.
After seeing the kindergarten effort of a logo for the London Olympics, lets hope that the Brits don't stuff up the opening ceremony in 2012 Tongue
You`ve got a point there. Icon_neutral
I thought the closing ceremony just as impressive. Very well rehearsed and executed.
