The bureau announced on TVs that His Majesty felt losing strength over the right side of the body Saturday morning so his doctors advised him to undergo a checking at the hospital.

Doctors diagnosed that the outer part of His Majesty's left-side brain lacked enough blood supply.

Following eight hours of drug administration by doctors, His Majesty regained strength over the right leg and part of his body, the bureau announced.

Thailand's king is recovering well

BANGKOK, Oct 16 (TNA) - Thailand's revered 79-year-old King Bhumibol Adulyadej has regained strength in his upper right arm and right leg to a nearly normal condition, and is in good spirits, the Royal Household Bureau said in a statement on Monday.


The world's longest-reigning living monarch was hospitalised Saturday after he experienced weakness on the right side of his body.

A team of royal physicians at Bangkok's Siriraj Hospital said that his reduced blood flow to the brain and minor irregularities in the nervous system have returned to normal.

"His Majesty is able to sit on a chair and is in good spirits," said the statement.

A representative of the Sultan of Malaysia's Kelantan state and his royal consort presented a vase of flowers for the King to wish him a speedy recovery.

Tens of thousands of well-wishers signed a book at the hospital to offer their best wishes to the king, including US ambassador Ralph Boyce.

Prominent figures, senior government officials and people from all walks of life, wearing yellow t-shirts, gathered at Siriraj Hospital on Monday to sign the get well book provided at the hospital.

In Thailand, yellow is the colour for Monday and His Majesty the King was born on Monday.
